First 2012 Hiring Email
*This was the 1st email sent Sept 12 at 3pm*
Hello potential 2012 IWearYourShirt.com (IWYS) shirt wearers!
It is with great pleasure that I send this email and give you a head start to becoming an official t-shirt wearer. There are two sections to this email. The first is about the hiring process itself and how it will work. The second will answer questions about being a professional t-shirt wearer.
#1 How to apply to wear shirts in 2012!
1. You will need to film a 3-5 minute YouTube video on why you’d be a great t-shirt wearer for 2012. This video should include relevant work experience, should show off your ability to be fun on camera, should show your video editing skills and should encourage people to vote for you.
- Here are the 4 videos that got chosen in 2011: http://iwearyourshirt.us2.list-manage.com/track/click?u=91c39837c837325443b063da7&id=3036d5b681&e=cac48eaf1e
2. If you don’t have video editing skills, you’re getting this email a month in advance of the start of the hiring process. Start learning now!
3. You will upload this YouTube video to your personal channel and will submit a link on our website the week of October 3 (including your name, email, Twitter, Facebook and a short bio). If your video isn’t ready by October 3, that’s fine, submit it anytime before December 1 to be eligible to get the job. Remember, though, you can only submit your video one time, so make it good!
4. Once your video is submitted, you’ll need to get your friends on Twitter, Facebook and everywhere else to help share your video, comment on your video, vote on your video and prove your awesomeness.
5. It is NOT a popularity contest, but we need to know you have a solid network of friends that will check out what shirt you’re wearing in 2012.
6. The four shirt wearers will be chosen on December 7 and flown out to Jacksonville, FL on the weekend of December 16 to meet each other, meet me and the rest of the IWYS family.
7. You must be 17 years or older to apply and can live anywhere in the world (with a strong internet connection) to get hired.
8. You might be given a challenge or two during the two-month hiring process. Be ready and make sure you check your email often just in case.
9. You can only submit ONE video. Make it a great one!
#2 What does it mean to be a professional t-shirt wearer?
1. Wearing shirts for a living is a full-time job and is a year-long contract. You will not be able to work a regular 9-5 job and do IWYS as a side gig for extra money.
2. We will be working on a six days a week schedule in 2012, with Saturdays being the day off each week. You will also have Thanksgiving, Christmas and a few other potential days off. The 2011 crew of shirt wearers are working a 365-day a year schedule and you can thank them for this change!
3. The hiring process will start the week of October 3 and will commence on December 7.
4. If you are hired, the daily requirements include filming a unique and fun YouTube video, doing a 30-minute live video show, tweeting and facebooking about our sponsors and hanging out in an online chat room with your fellow shirt wearers.
5. The starting salary for 2011 shirt wearers was $35,000 plus potential bonuses. The salary numbers will not explicitly be divulged for 2012 until the interview process starts. Know that the salary will be comparable to 2011.
6. As of right now there are 4 open shirt wearing positions to fill and we’re looking for creative people who can edit videos well, who are good on camera, who enjoy social media, who love to wear t-shirts and can work hard.
7. This is an incredibly fun job and there is potential to travel, be seen on prominent press outlets and to wear really silly things.
8. Last year, it helped the 2011 shirt wearers get hired by joining our live video shows from 2-5pm EDT (http://iwys.tv). They were able to help promote our daily sponsors and show daily interest, which helped them really stand out from the crowd. Doing this will also give you a glimpse of what the job would be like.
I wish each and every one of you the best of luck and hope to see your video application on IWearYourShirt.com in October!
If you aren’t interested in this job anymore feel free to unsubscribe to this email list below. We’ll send another email update in a week or two, so keep an eye out for that.
Thank you,
Jason Sadler
